Industrial Automation

SCADA Systems

SCADA brings data from PLCs, meters and instruments into a central system where operators and engineers can monitor, control, respond to alarms and review history. Machine Lab designs SCADA around how your plant is actually operated.

System architecture

One supervisory view of every machine, utility and alarm.

  4. 04 Operator Stations Control & visualization
  5. 05 Reports Management

Typical challenges

What this solves

  • Operators walk between panels to check machine and utility status.
  • Alarms are missed, or there is no record of when and why faults happened.
  • Production and utility data is recorded by hand.
  • Different machines and vendors cannot be seen in one place.

Capabilities

What we deliver

  • SCADA architecture and network design
  • Multi-vendor PLC and device communication
  • Process graphics and navigation
  • Alarm management and event logging
  • Historical trending and reporting
  • Remote visualization (subject to site IT and security policy)

Engineering approach

How Machine Lab approaches it

  • 01

    Architecture & tag design

Network topology, communication drivers, tag structure and naming standards that stay maintainable as the system grows.

  • 02

    Visualization

Overview, area and equipment screens designed for fast situational awareness — status first, details on demand.

  • 03

    Alarms & events

Prioritized alarms with acknowledgement, history and clear operator guidance.

  • 04

    History & reporting

Historical trends and periodic reports for production, utilities and energy.

PLC, HMI and SCADA control architecture Sensors and meters send signals to PLC input modules. The PLC CPU runs the control logic and drives actuators and a VFD-controlled motor. An industrial Ethernet network connects the PLC, VFD and energy meter to the HMI and SCADA.
